“Eber”
(Gen. Ch. 10, 11), the father of “Abram the Hebrew” (Gen. 14:13), name means
‘one who crosses over’. Abram fulfilled
this by following God’s calling to move. (see Gen.
12:1-5; Josh. 24:2-3) But the messianic
portion of this prophecy was fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ (Abraham’s seed
[see Hebrews
Abraham crossed over (or immigrated), from the Euphrates river area, “from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan” (Gen. 12:31). Jesus Christ crossed over from heaven to earth at his holy incarnation. And then back from earth to heaven at his holy resurrection.
