Oxblood

On New Year’s Day of 2022 Anno Domini I purchased an Oxblood maroon Toronto Blue Jays New Era 5950 fitted hat. I didn’t realize it but the name for the colour “oxblood” is straight out of the Holy Bible.

An “ox” is also known as a “bullock”; which is also known as “cattle”. And in the Books of Exodus, Leviticus, and 2 Chronicles ‘bullock’s blood’ in mentioned frequently. The blood of bullock was used in the Levitical sacrificial religious system in the Old Testament.
