Exodus album miracle

By Prophet Jacob R. Blandford

Exodus is a greatest hits album by the east coast hip-hop rapper Ja Rule released on 12/13/2005.  The album cover art features the appearance of a white textured book with gothic gold printed “Ja Rule EXODUS”.  I assume this was supposed to look like a Bible because Exodus is the second book in the Bible; and the first English Bibles were printed in gothic or Germanic print lettering.

Why am I talking about this?  Because I purchased this CD on a vacation trip to Los Angeles and Las Vegas with my old college friend.  This trip was one of my ‘last hurrahs’ as a sinner before I was saved/born-again on 2/22/2006 Anno Domini.

I don’t remember exactly when the trip was, but it had to have been after 12/13/2005 because that’s when the CD was released.  And it had to have been before 2/22/2006 because there is no way I would have gone to ‘sin city’ after I was blood-washed and Spirit-filled.  My college friend was a decent man and a decent friend.  However, we weren’t good influences on each other.  I pray for him.  It was not good for him to encourage me to sin (or for me to encourage him to sin); but maybe the Lord will have mercy on him, like He did for me.

By the way, just to backtrack a little, in my younger days of disobedience and deceit I use to listen to a lot of rap music.  Ja Rule was one of those rappers, I’m ashamed to admit, I admired.  But after I was saved, the same year I destroyed my rap music CD collection, and I haven’t listened to any of it since.  You couldn’t pay me to listen to gangster rap now.  Only a little Christian rap nowadays (and I repeat—only a little).

But back to the CD.  At this point in my life I was very depraved and in thick darkness.  My sins were very heavy, my heart and mind vexed, and the devil’s oppression was strong.  However, God the Holy Spirit was beginning to woo me and give me some openings of light.  This was one of them.  The term “exodus” is the anglicized form of the Greek word for ‘departure’.  In the Holy Bible the children of Israel had an “exodus” out of Egyptian bondage to freedom.  This is a picture of what happens to the New Testament Christian when he is saved.  He is delivered from the world and the slavery of sin and brought to the liberty of the knowledge of Christ Jesus! (see John 8:32, 36; Rom. 8:2; Gal. 5:1)  I thank God He delivered me from Satan (see Prov. 2:12) and the world (see Gal. 1:4).

I Thank Thee my Holy Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ that this is the case with me; and that I’ve been able to show others your light of deliverance!  I’ve been delivered from Satan and his hellish world system; and brought in the kingdom of God: the church of Jesus Christ, forever and ever, Amen & Amen.

With that said, do you think it was a coincidence that this “EXODUS” album (which I bought a copy of) was released in the very same season I experienced my own personal “Exodus”.  I trow not!  By the way, I haven’t even begun to get into all the typologies between the Passover Exodus and Jesus Christ our Paschal Lamb... but they're right there in the Holy Book if you’ll read it! (see 1 Cor. 5:7)
