The Image of God

By Prophet Jacob R. Blandford

Men, viz. fallen and unsaved men (see Rom. 3:23, 5:12), are NOT created in the image of God.  Yes, Adam was originally created in the image of God (see Gen. 1:26-27), but he died spiritually when he sinned (see Gen. 2:17), and because God is a spirit (see John 4:24), he lost that spiritual image.  Seth was born in Adam’s fallen image, not God’s (see Gen. 5:3).  The image Adam has passed down to his descendants is a fallen, devilish, sinful, deathly image.  Every man since Adam was born dead spiritually (see Eph. 2:1, 5)—that’s not the image of God!  The image of God doesn’t show up again until Jesus Christ (see 2 Cor. 4:4; Col. 1:15; Heb. 1:3) and the ‘new birth’ or ‘rebirth’ (see Col. 3:10).  In short, the image of God applies only to the First Adam, the Second Adam, and those (the elect saints) the Second Adam has quickened (see John 5:21) or begotten again (see John 3:3-8; 1 Pet. 1:3, 23, 2:2).  Else, why would God despise His own image? (see Ps. 73:20)

These unsaved reprobates (cf. Jer. 6:30) that go around screaming they were created in God’s image—they show just how ironic their lot is: they ignore the Adamic sin-nature and curse that was passed down to them; and they think they’re the children of God.  The Lord Jesus said their father was the devil (see John 8:44)—not God Almighty.

The image of God ONLY applies to the 1st Adam, the 2nd Adam, and those of us whom the 2nd Adam has quickened (or given the new birth).  [See John 1:12-13, 5:21; Eph. 2:1; Col. 2:13; 1 John 3:1-2].
