Millennial Judges
By Prophet Jacob R. Blandford
One of the greatest typologies of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Bible is Joshua. In Hebrews 4:8 (in the King James Version) the Greek name for Joshua is even translated as “Jesus” (cf. Acts 7:45). Also, in Hebrews 2:10, our Lord is called our “captain” and that holy captain appeared to Joshua in Josh. 5:13-15. That Captain had a sword drawn in his hand; and the spiritual sword of the Lord is the word of God (Heb. 4:12). With that said, Joshua’s conquest of the land of Canaan is a typology of the battle of Armageddon and Christ's subsequent future rule over the holy land on the throne of David (Luke 1:32-33). So in Joshua you have chapters 6-12 describing the battles the Israelites fought to obtain Palestine and then the rest of the book describes the tribes settlements and land allotments. In the future, after the second advent of Christ, at the beginning of the Millennium: the land will be allotted to the 12 tribes again (see Ezek. 48). This time each of the 12 tribes will be ruled by one of Christ’s apostles (see Matt. 19:28). So the whole Old Testament Book of Joshua is a prophetical prefigure of Christ and his coming. So what? Well, what is the next book in the Bible? The Book of Judges. And what does Judges picture? The Millennium. This is when Christ and his church will take over the world (see Dan. 7:18, 22, 27). This time period is spoken frequently in the Prophets, but in one point of interest specifically in Obadiah 17-21. Here, the saints are called “saviours” in verse 21. In Nehemiah 9:27 the judges in the Book of Judges are called “saviours”. Therefore the terms “judges” and “saviours” are interchangeable—and that makes the Book of Judges a prophetic glimpse of what Obadiah 21 will look like. Joshua pictures Revelation 19 (Christ’s advent) and sequentially Judges represents Revelation 20 (Christ’s 1,000 year reign). In Jesus Christ’s holy name, Amen.
