Study notes

 

·        “But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee” (Acts 26:16)

·        “But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 1:11-12)

·        “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

·        “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” (Acts 20:24)

·        “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.” (Galatians 1:6-7)

·        “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:16-17)

·        obedience to the faith” (Romans 1:5) & “obedience of faith” (Romans 16:26)

·        “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8)

·        “MY GOSPEL” (Romans 2:16, 16:25; II Tim. 2:8)

·        “But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.” (Acts 15:11)

·         “For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office” (Romans 11:13)

·        “That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.” (Romans 15:16)

·        Romans 1:17 led Martin Luther (1483-1546) to rediscover of the doctrine of justification through faith. (cf. Habakkuk 2:4; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38)  And the Epistles of Romans and Galatians were the bedrock of the Protestant Reformation.

·        “THE HOLY SCRIPTURES” (Rom. 1:2; II Tim. 3:15)

·        Going from Romans to Hebrews, Paul wrote 14 Biblical Books (called Epistles or Letters).  That’s more than half of the New Testament!

·        Apostle Peter called Paul’s writings Scripture: “And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” (II Peter 3:15-16)
