"Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame." (Song of Solomon 8:6)

By Prophet Jacob R. Blandford

I was born-again (or restored) on 2/22/2006 Anno Domini.  That same year I got two tattoos on my body.  The first was on my left breast and says “His pain Our gain” (in cursive).  The second was on my right bicep and says “God’s child” (in Gothic).  So I got two tattoos, and that’s all I have, and that’s all I plan to have.  It was also before I was familiar with the Torah’s prohibition of tattoos (Lev. 19:28).  It was a sin of “ignorance” (see Lev. Ch. 4, 5).

But I want to talk about what’s miraculous about these tattoos... these tattoos are related to my Christian faith and were intended to visibly document my newfound faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  When I got these tattoos I was new to the Bible.  I don’t think I had even read it through once at the time I got the tattoos.  But one day I was reading Song of Solomon 8:6 and I saw that this verse described exactly what was done with my tattoo work.  A ‘seal’ is defined as a mark or stamp of assurance or guarantee.  It is like God marked me (see Rev. 7:3, 22:4) on the exact places described in Canticles 8:6—and in order—on the heart and then the on the arm!  This was one of God’s ways of giving me a token of “assurance” (1 Thess. 1:5).  This is merely an outward sign or seal to represent how Christ has “sealed” (Eph. 1:13; 2 Cor. 1:22) me inwardly by His Holy Spirit.

I Thank Thee Lord Jesus Christ, my Blessed Saviour, in Thy holy name I pray, Amen & Amen.
