Old Split Foot

By Prophet Jacob R. Blandford

One of the old folk name for the devil is “old split foot”.  This is because the devil is believed to have cloven feet like a calf.  But where does that come from?  The answer is: from the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel.  In Ezek. 28:11-19 the devil is identified as an “anointed cherub” (v. 14).  And then going back to previous chapters from Ezekiel, the cherubs are described in the first and tenth chapters.  The cherubs described there have this description: "And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings." (Ezek. 1:6-8 KJV)  These same creatures are specifically called “cherubims” in the 10th Chapter of Ezekiel.  One of the greatest lies about the devil is that he is a fallen angel.  Wrong!  He is a fallen “cherub” (Ezekiel 28:14).  He is transformed into an angel (2 Cor. 11:14), but he is not angel.  The confusion comes from the NIV which deifies the devil in Isaiah 14 by calling him ‘morning star’ and then by cross referencing that with Job 38:7.  But “the morning stars” in Job 38:7 are the angelic hosts, and Jesus Christ is “the bright and morning star” according to Revelation 22:16 KJV 1611!
