The stations of the Exodus.

The encampments of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai are listed in Numbers Chapter 33. There are exactly 42 encampments. And in the genealogy of Jesus Christ in Saint Matthew Chapter 1; there are exactly 42 generations from Abraham to Christ. (see Matt. 1:17) Why does this occur? Because Israel is God’s son (see Ex. 4:22) and Jesus Christ is God’s Son (see Matt. 3:17). This connection between God’s two sons: Israel and Jesus is so strong that there’s a dual application to the prophecy the Holy Spirit gave Hosea in Hosea 11:1 (cf. Matt. 2:15)!
